TALK: Past, Present, and Future of The Lincoln County News

On September 22nd , the Old Bristol Historical Society and the South Bristol Historical Society will be co-hosting John C. Roberts, the fifth-generation publisher of The Lincoln County News, who will tell the enduring story of this local institution in a presentation entitled “Past, Present and Future of The Lincoln County News.” The presentation will take place at 7 pm at the Bristol Congregational Church at 1261 Bristol Road.
During the talk, topics such as printing technology, newsprint delivery, subscriptions, and advertising will be discussed both in the past and the evolution to present day. Covering the news, and the role local newspapers play in the community will be an area of focus. Current challenges such as operating a newspaper at a time when much of the world is digital, public trust in news organizations, and revenue will be featured. Some details from the paper’s recent community survey, and some plans for the future will be shared as well. There will be ample time for audience questions.
